I'm taking a dance class called "Lindy Fix" and I need to know what kind of shoes to wear? (and clothes)

This dance combines Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Charleston, %26amp; Balboa practice (?). This is what the ad says. It also says to %26quot;bring clean footwear.%26quot; I have no idea what kind of shoes to wear to something like this. I imagine comfortable ones, but sneakers? I don%26#039;t have a clue! It says to wear indoor clothes also? It also says to %26quot;wear shoes that slide?%26quot; What shoes slide? I need to know what shoes to wear, where to get them from and what kind of clothes to wear. I have these shiny black spandex pants I think would be appropriate, but what type of shirt should I wear? I am sso clueless here. Can anyone help? I always pick someone for best answer by the way, you won%26#039;t be wasting your time helping me. Thanks everyone!!!

If you can get jazz shoes from any dance store i would recommend that. but Sneakers would be fine. You should wear a comfortable light shirt with the spandex.
Reply:Wear flathill shoes and gim clothing it is comfortable and you can move a lot without your clothes in the way.

That%26#039;s where all us Lindy Hoppers get our shoes. Its owned by lindy hop dancers and are super nice people who make great stuff that lasts and is comfortable.
Reply:When you first come out dancing, there is no need to invest in any kind of special shoes. Simply grab some comfortable shoes out of your closet. You may want to pick a pair that will slide a bit on the floor so you don%26#039;t stick when trying to turn. Overall, the real key word is %26quot;comfortable%26quot;. As time goes by, you may want to invest into some dance shoes. There are many options open to you when looking for a dance shoe. Technically, any comfortable shoes will work, however, most people find that common street shoes with rubber soles to be too %26quot;sticky%26quot; to dance in. Dress shoes with hard leather soles often lack the needed comfort for swing dancing. You%26#039;re left with either buying specific swing dance shoes or modifying a pair of street shoes. Bleyers are probably the most popular brand of off-the-shelf swing dance shoes. There are also many ballroom shoes with swing styles, however, many of these are built for general dancing and lack the padding and support that is helpful when swing dancing. Another option is jazz or tap shoes (without the taps). Seeing these dances share similar roots as swing (and similar movements), the dance shoes are often functional for swing dancing as well. For many swing dancers, off-the-shelf dance shoes don%26#039;t offer what they are looking for in style, comfort, and/or cost. The next step is to find and modify a pair of regular street shoes. Swing dancing is pretty casual. Usually, it is uncommon for people to go really dressy. Swing dancing is energetic and I live in California; even with air conditioning there is a good chance you will get a little sweaty. While gymwear is discouraged, it is a good idea to dress in casual clothes that you don%26#039;t mind getting a little sweaty. Also it%26#039;s a good idea to wear clothes that give you a full range of movement. As a rule of thumb, live band nights tend to be more dressy than DJ nights. Some people prefer to dress vintage on occasion. While this is never required, it is fun and adds to the atmosphere. On rare occasions, a dance may be labeled as a dressy occasion. This is something to keep an eye out for. Workshops, classes, and lessons are even more casual than dances. Comfortable clothes are the goal. Depending on the length and material being taught, gymwear may be acceptable.
Reply:You need comfortable and a little loose fitting close- since they say clean, they want something that is litterally clean, not dirty- probably don%26#039;t want mud on their floor.

Any dance shoe should be something that will allow a little slide. Your foot has to be able to turn with your weight on it. Plain leather works well, although some artifical material work as well. Sneakers are %26#039;anti-slip%26quot; and will hinder your turns or even hurt your legs!

Dance shoes are made with very thin swede soles- they are light, flexible and allow easy turns.
