Best shoes for lyrical dance w/ splits?

Maybe it%26#039;s the type of shoe, maybe it%26#039;s a personal weakness... I%26#039;m a very novice dancer. I have splits in my lyrical, and I need to be able to do splits on a gym floor. Can I do this in suede/ leather foot thongs? And spins?

Our students do splits and spins in both 1/2 soles and foot thongs.
Reply:Maybe it%26#039;s the floor. I%26#039;m practicing on the linoleum floor at my house. Is a (wood) gym floor easier? I tried foot thongs, and they stuck too much. I just took the splits out of my dance this time. Report It

Reply:i do spins, splits, and everything in foot undeez
Reply:Well, here%26#039;s the thing, suede/leather lyrical sandals don%26#039;t offer the support you really need, and it can actually hurt the bones in your ankles, feet, and shins....especially if you%26#039;re doing any jumps.

I highly recommend Capezio or Bloch split-sole elasta booties. They offer the correct amount of support regardless. After you%26#039;ve danced for a few years, you can use dance paws because you%26#039;ve built up enough strength in your feet, ankles, etc.

Good luck!
